The Service des travaux publics, espaces verts, entretien et vignes is responsible for the maintenance of the public domain, cleanliness and waste management, green spaces, parks and the funeral center, ports, the mechanical workshop, road infrastructure, public lighting and vineyards. In this context, you will be responsible for the maintenance of the green spaces of the public domain, in particular the maintenance and beautification of the cemetery. Your mission will play a decisive role in the continuous improvement of the living environment of the inhabitants of the Ville de Vevey.

In this capacity, you are, among other things, responsible for the following main tasks:

• Ensure the general maintenance of the cemetery and its green spaces, in particular lawns, flowerbeds, hedges, shrubs and trees
• Carry out planting, renewal and maintenance work of the cemetery's landscape features
• Participate in the preparation and implementation of burials, exhumations and other funeral interventions, in compliance with current procedures
• Perform small masonry work related to the maintenance of cemetery infrastructure (borders, paths, cinerarium tombs, columbariums and various equipment)
• Ensure the routine maintenance of equipment, machines and vehicles used by the sector
• Welcome and inform families, funeral companies and various stakeholders with professionalism and discretion
• Occasionally supervise a team during specific work and ensure its proper execution
• Supervise and accompany auxiliary staff, interns as well as apprentices in their activities
• Collaborate closely with the urban cleanliness sector and the various municipal services
• Drive the vehicles and machines necessary for operation and maintenance
• Provide, on a rotational basis, on-call services and weekend services as well as interventions related to ceremonies

These positions require:

• CFC in horticulture option landscaping or a diploma from a horticulture school or training deemed equivalent
• Confirmed practical experience of several years in a similar function, ideally in the maintenance of public green spaces or cemeteries
• Good knowledge of masonry, in particular for the maintenance work of funeral infrastructure and outdoor landscaping
• Solid skills in handling construction machinery
• Knowledge of automatic irrigation systems, an asset
• Ability to work at heights for tree pruning
• Good physical resistance, manual dexterity and rigor
• Ability to work with discretion, tact and respect in an environment related to funeral activities
• Team spirit, sense of responsibility and ability to supervise staff
• Ability to work autonomously and high availability
• Marked interest in environmental issues
• Category B driving license mandatory, M1 license or other licenses related to the driving of machinery, an asset

This function involves irregular working hours for weekend and public holiday shifts, snow on-call services and occasionally during events.
