The Municipality of Vevey is advertising the position of

SPECIALIZED ROAD MAINTENANCE WORKER at 80-100% in the urban cleanliness sector, attached to the Service des travaux publics, espaces verts, entretien et vignes

The Service des travaux publics, espaces verts, entretien et vignes ensures the maintenance of the public domain, cleanliness and waste management, green spaces, parks and the funeral center, ports, the mechanical workshop, road infrastructure, public lighting and vineyards. In this context, you will be responsible for the maintenance of the public domain. Your mission will play a decisive role in the continuous improvement of the living environment of the inhabitants of the Ville de Vevey.

As such, you are responsible, among other things, for the following main tasks:

• Perform masonry and civil engineering work: installation of chambers, repair of low walls, stairs and concrete structures, creation of small formwork, etc.
• Install, maintain and restore curbs, paving stones, slabs and gutters
• Participate in the implementation work of limestone gravel, mortar, concrete, bituminous concrete and cold mix
• Perform occasional repairs of roads, sidewalks and pedestrian paths
• Install, fix and repair urban furniture as well as signage supports (barriers, bollards, bins, posts, etc.)
• Prepare interventions: taking measurements, reading simple plans, estimating necessary materials and organizing equipment
• Set up and remove temporary signage as well as the protection devices necessary for the safety of construction sites
• Use and maintain tools, vehicles and small construction machinery adapted to the work
• Report observed damage on the public domain and report on the interventions carried out
• Occasionally perform the cleaning and clearing of drainage grates
• Occasionally participate in snow removal operations during the winter period
• Participate in the winter road maintenance on-call service
• Occasionally participate in the installation and dismantling of equipment related to events, as well as reinforcing the road maintenance and urban cleanliness teams

This position requires:

• CFC in masonry, road construction or training deemed equivalent
• Proven experience in masonry and in the maintenance of outdoor developments. Experience in road maintenance work is an asset
• Good mastery of road surface repair techniques
• Ability to organize one's work and to carry out interventions autonomously, in compliance with instructions
• Ability to perform physical activity outdoors, involving the handling of heavy loads and the use of construction equipment
• Rigorous, dynamic personality with a strong team spirit
• Listening skills, rigor and discretion
• Interpersonal skills and sense of contact with the population
• Availability for early morning hours, interventions on weekends and public holidays according to planning, as well as to participate in the winter on-call service
• Category B driving license mandatory. BE licenses as well as categories 1B, 3B, R1, R4, S2 and M1 are an asset
