Job description ##

We are recruiting! ###

SONCEBOZ is a Swiss technological and industrial group (1300 employees), a world leader in the sector of mechatronic drive systems.

Partnering with a demanding international clientele in the Automotive, Commercial Vehicle, Off-Road, MedTech, Building Automation, etc., sectors, innovation and the development of new technological solutions are strong development levers for SONCEBOZ.

Are you passionate about precision mechanics and do you like to understand, disassemble, adjust, and ensure the reliability of complex tooling?

You might be our future Mold Maintenance Mechanic.

The position is located at the Sonceboz-Sombeval site (canton of Bienne).

Your mission ###

Within the Tooling Maintenance team, you will work on injection molds ranging from approximately 200 kg to 1 tonne, single or multi-cavity.

Your daily tasks include, in particular:

  • Performing preventive maintenance on molds at the end of production: disassembly, inspection, cleaning, verification of various components, and reassembly
  • Preparing and inspecting tooling before returning it to production to guarantee its proper functioning
  • Diagnosing failures and performing curative maintenance interventions, especially in case of breakage or stoppage requiring rapid intervention;
  • Carrying out fitting, grinding, and traditional machining operations necessary for the restoration of the tooling
  • Working on the various equipment integrated into the molds: hot runners, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pressure sensors-
  • Performing high-precision dimensional inspections using appropriate measuring tools: calipers, micrometer, profile projector...
  • Reading and using 2D and 3D technical drawings
  • Identifying and proposing technical improvements on the tooling in order to improve its reliability and performance
  • Entering interventions into the CMMS and ensuring clear reporting to the Maintenance Manager
  • Guaranteeing good transmission of information between teams and with the production workshops.

Your skills ###

You are proficient in:

  • precision mechanics and fitting
  • traditional machining
  • surface and cylindrical grinding and ideally working on a conventional lathe
  • reading drawings and dimensional tolerances that can go below one hundredth
  • traditional control and measurement methods.

Knowledge of electricity, hydraulics, and pneumatics will also be appreciated.

What will make the difference?

Beyond your technical expertise, we are looking for a rigorous, methodical, and autonomous person.

Mold maintenance requires great attention: very similar components, numerous cavities, precision parts, and fragile equipment. You therefore know how to organize your disassemblies and reassemblies methodically and work with meticulousness, including on operations carried out under a binocular microscope.

You also enjoy searching for the origin of a problem and do not settle for simply restoring equipment: you are capable of proposing improvements that allow for the long-term reliability of the tooling.

The position is organized in a 28-hour shift schedule.

Your background ###

Ideally, you have a technical training such as a Professional Baccalaureate in Toolmaking, Toolmaking Technician or equivalent, and significant experience in the maintenance or manufacture of tooling.

Experience of approximately 5 years or more in a plastic injection molding environment, mold manufacturing, precision mechanics, or industrial tooling constitutes a real asset.
