HORTICULTURIST-LANDSCAPER at 80-100% in the green spaces sector, attached to the Service des travaux, espaces verts, entretien et vignes

The Service des travaux publics, espaces verts, entretien et vignes is responsible for the maintenance of the public domain, cleanliness and waste management, green spaces, parks and the funeral center, ports, the mechanical workshop, road infrastructure, public lighting and vineyards. Within this framework, you will be responsible for the maintenance of green spaces in the public domain. Your mission will play a decisive role in the continuous improvement of the living environment of the inhabitants of the Ville de Vevey.

As such, you are responsible, among other things, for the following main tasks:

• Maintain green spaces and trees, carry out the monitoring and renewal of flower beds, collaborate in the monitoring of the arboreal heritage and proceed with the creation of new developments
• Realize and maintain ornamental plantings
• Participate in the work of preparing burials and exhumations
• Carry out maintenance work on equipment, machines and vehicles
• Supervise a team during specific tasks
• Supervise the work of unskilled, auxiliary and trainee personnel
• Take part in the training of apprentices
• Collaborate closely with the urban cleanliness sector and all municipal services
• Drive vehicles and machines
• Ensure, on an alternating basis, on-call services and weekend services, as well as snow removal interventions

This position requires:

• CFC in horticulture option landscaping or a diploma from a horticulture school or training deemed equivalent
• Confirmed practical experience of several years in a similar position. Solid knowledge in masonry is an important asset
• Solid skills in handling construction machinery
• Knowledge in the management of automatic irrigation systems, an asset
• Ability to work at height for tree pruning
• Good physical resistance, manual dexterity and rigor
• Interpersonal skills and diplomacy
• Sense of collaboration and spirit of initiative
• Perfect autonomy and great availability
• Interest in environmental issues
• Taste for public service
• Driving license cat. B mandatory, M1 desired

This function involves irregular working hours for weekend and public holiday on-call duties, snow on-call services and occasionally during events.
